Ag-Sm (Silver-Samarium) K.A. Gschneidner, Jr. and F.W. Calderwood The assessed phase diagram of the Ag-Sm system is based on the work of [64Geb], [65Ste], [70Mcm], and [80Sta]. The present phase diagram is drawn from the data of [80Sta], except that the Ag-rich compound is Ag51Sm14. A solubility range from 21.5 to 25 at.% Sm occurs, as in the Ag-Ce system, with the peak in the liquidus occurring at some composition within this range. The solid solubility of Sm in (Ag) at the eutectic temperature is ~1 at.% [ 70Gsc]. The compound bAg2Sm forms peritectically at 790 C from Ag51Sm14 and the liquid. The three reported eutectics are (Ag)-Ag51Sm14 at 10 at.% Sm and 760 C, the bAg2Sm-AgSm at 37 at.% Sm and 775 C, and AgSm-(Sm) at 82 at.% Sm and 675 C. 64Geb: E. Gebhardt, M. von Erdberg, and U.
