Al-Ta

Al-Ta (Aluminum-Tantalum) U.R. Kattner The assessed phase diagram for the Ta-Al system is based on the work of [ 56Gla], [62Wil], [65Ram], [76Yer], and [89Sub]. The equilibrium phases are the liquid, L; the bcc (Ta) solid solution, which dissolves less than 4 at.% Al [ 89Sub]; Ta2Al, with a wide range of homogeneity from 20 to 40 at.% Al [65Ram]; TaAl; TaAl2; TaAl3; and the fcc (Al) solid solution with a solubility of less than 0.04 at.% Ta [56Gla]. The liquidus has only been established with sufficient accuracy in the range from 71 to 79 at.% Al [89Sub] and for compositions larger than 99.9 at.% Al [ 76Yer]. No experimental data are available for the solidus of (Ta) and Ta2Al and their mutual solvus lines. Therefore, these lines are dashed in the assessed diagram. [89Sub] reported a metastable compound with an Al content of 52.3 at.%. 56Gla: V.M. Glazov, M.V. Maltsev, and Yu.D. Chistiakov, Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Otd. Tekhn.
