Cd-Rb (Cadmium-Rubidium) A.D. Pelton Because no phase diagram has been reported for this system, an estimated diagram is given. The compound Cd13Rb has been identified by X-ray and chemical analysis [38Zin] as being isotypic with KCd13, CsCd13, NaZn13, KZn13, and RbZn13. No other compounds have been reported. The phase diagram almost certainly resembles the phase diagrams of the Cd-K, Zn-Na, and Zn-K systems, which are all characterized by the one compound and by liquid immiscibility. In the assessed diagram, it is proposed that the miscibility gap extends from a few atomic percent Rb to about 99 at.% Rb. That is, the extent of liquid immiscibility in Cd-Rb is assumed to be about the same as in Na-Zn, and RbZn13 would melt syntectically to form two immiscible liquids, as do NaZn13 and KZn13. It is possible, however, that the solubility of Rb in liquid Cd is greater than 7.14 at.%, in which case Cd13Rb would melt congruently as does Cd13K. 38Zin: E. Zintl and W. Haucke, Z.
