Cm-Pt

Cm-Pt (Curium-Platinum) D.E. Peterson The assessed Cm-Pt phase diagram was estimated by correlation with the Gd-Pt phase diagram [Moffatt]. Cm metal is expected to have an alloying behavior similar to the lanthanides, because the 5f electrons in Cm are no longer involved in bonding. It is expected that CmPt and CmPt2 are congruently melting at relatively high temperatures and that the latter phase has a wide solubility range. The remaining intermetallics will probably undergo peritectic decomposition reactions with increasing temperature. There should be a small solid solubility for Cm in (Pt) as the eutectic temperature is approached. The intermetallics CmPt2 and CmPt5 have been prepared by [73Erd] and [85Rad]. [ 73Erd] reported no intermediate phases between CmPt2 and CmPt5, which is in agreement with the proposed phase diagram. The melting points of the elements are based on [Melt], and the Cm allotropic transformation temperatures are from [86War]. 73Erd: B. Erdmann and C. Keller, J.
