In-Yb (Indium-Ytterbium) A. Palenzona and S. Cirafici The assessed In-Yb phase diagram is based on [71Mcm]. Minor changes were made in the melting and transformation temperatures for In and Yb to agree with the currently accepted values. The solubility of Yb in (In) is negligible; the solubility of In in (bYb) is about 1.0 at.% at 690 C (eutectic temperature). The solubility of In in (gYb) has not been determined. All these data, together with those for the other In- RE systems, were discussed by [83Yat] and [84Del]. Magnetic and transport property measurements have been carried out for only two In-Yb phases-In2Yb and In3Yb. No investigations in this field are known for the other intermediate compounds of this system. [64Ian], [67Har], [69Bus], and [71Mcm], with arguments derived from magnetic susceptibilities, lattice parameter values, melting points, and the coexistence of isomorphous phases, reported In3Yb, In2Yb, and InYb to contain essentially divalent Yb at room temperature, with the possibility of partial trivalence at low temperatures. 64Ian: A.
