Ni-Zr

Ni-Zr (Nickel-Zirconium) P. Nash and C.S. Jayanth The assessed Ni-Zr phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [59Kra], [ 61Kir], and [79Bse] and consists of eight intermediate phases, none of which exhibit very extensive solubility. The terminal solid solutions are also very restricted. There are few thermal analysis data available for this system; the solidus temperatures are accurate to no better than с10 C, and the liquidus is even less well established. The solubility of Zr in (Ni) is about 0.6 at.% [54Pog]. [53Hay] found the solubility of Ni in (Zr) to be negligible. Broad diffraction peaks have been observed in splat-quenched Ni-Zr alloys (20 to 70 at.% Ni), indicating a noncrystallized structure. Amorphous structures have been obtained in melt-spun ribbons over the composition range 22 to 90 at. % Ni. 53Hay: E.T. Hayes, A.H. Roberson, and O.G. Paasche, Trans.
