Sb-Tl

Sb-Tl (Antimony-Thallium) R.C. Sharma and Y.A. Chang The assessed Tl-Sb phase diagram is based primarily on the experimental data of [70Pre], with review of the work of [06Wil] and [60Sug]. Three intermediate phases exist in the system-g, Tl7Sb2 and TlSb. In the assessed phase diagram, Tl7Sb2 is shown to be stable from ~22.5 to 25.5 at.% Sb. TlSb is stable only in the narrow temperature range 191 to 195 C. The Tl-Sb liquidus was determined by [06Wil] and [70Pre]. Solid Tl exists in two allotropic forms: aTl, stable at lower temperatures, transforms to bTl at 230 C. (aTl) and (bTl) dissolve substantial amounts of Sb, whereas the solid solubility of Tl in (Sb) is negligible [60Sug, 70Pre]. The maximum solubility of Sb in (bTl) is ~23.8 at.% Sb at 193 C and it decreases to ~16.5 at.% Sb at 125 C [70Pre]. The maximum solubility of Sb in (aTl) is ~4 at.% Sb at 152 C and ~1.2 to 1.6 at.% Sb at room temperature in equilibrium with g [60Sug, 70Pre]. 06Wil: R.S. Williams, Z. Anorg. Allg.
