Si-Zn

Si-Zn (Silicon-Zinc) R.W. Olesinski and G.J. Abbaschian The Si-Zn system is characterized by a eutectic reaction at a temperature close to the melting point of Zn (419.58 C). The mutual solubilities of Si and Zn in the solid state are negligible. The assessed phase diagram was obtained by optimization of the available experimental data using least- squares regression analysis and a thermodynamic model. The diagram is based primarily on the work of [60Thu], [72Sch], and [77Gir]. At normal pressure, pure Si has a cubic diamond-type structure; high-pressure SiII is tetragonal with the bSn-type structure. The structure of pure Zn is hexagonal, Mg type. 60Thu: C.D. Thurmond and M. Kowalchik, Bell. Sys. Tech. J., 39, 169-204 (1960). 72Sch: M. Schneider and M. Krumnacker, Neue HЃtte, 17, 519-521 (1972) in German. 77Gir: B. Girault, C.R. Acad. Sci. Paris, B, 284, 1-4 (1977) in French. Published in Bull. Alloy Phase Diagrams, 6(6), Dec 1985. Complete evaluation contains 2 figures, 4 tables, and 14 references. 1
