Sm-W (Samarium-Tungsten) S. Pandian, S.V. Nagender Naidu, and P. Rama Rao Little information is available on the RE-W binary systems. The data of [66Den] were used to construct a partial assessed phase diagram for the Sm-W system. Substantial information is not available on the type of reaction RE elements have with W. In general, RE elements behave similarly. Reports are available for the Sc-W, Y-W, and Ce-W systems indicating a eutectic reaction in each; the other RE-W systems may also be expected to have a eutectic, probably of the type L = (RE) + (W). The solubility data of W in liquid Sm reported by [66Den] are 0.0018 at.% W at 1073 C, 0.0067 at.% W at 1418 C, 0.0116 at.% W at 1590 C, 0.0139 at.% W at 1603 C, 0.0182 at.% W at 1718 C, and 0.0149 at.% W at 1765 C.
