Hg-Tb

Hg-Tb (Mercury-Terbium) C. Guminski The assessed Tb-Hg phase diagram at constrained Hg vapor pressure was taken from [Moffatt], who presumed its similarity to the La-Hg and Pr-Hg partial phase diagrams. However, the assessed diagram shows the peritectic decomposition of TbHg4 at 150 C; this temperature should not increase with pressure to about 700 C, as suggested in [Moffatt]. Ranges of stability at normal pressure of Tb-Hg compounds are drawn as solid lines. In the temperature range -100 to +20 C, the mutual solid solubilities of (Tb) and (Hg) were found to be below the detection limit of the XRD measurements used by [68Kir]. By analogy to the Hg-Pr system, an increase of Hg solubility in (Tb) to a few atomic percent is expected at higher temperatures. 68Kir: H.R. Kirchmayr and W. Lugscheider, Z.
