Ba-In

Ba-In (Barium-Indium) H. Okamoto The assessed Ba-In phase diagram is based on the experimental data of [66Bru]. Six intermediate phases exist in this system-Ba13In, Ba3In, Ba2In with two modifications, BaIn, BaIn2, and BaIn4. The assessed melting points of Ba and In are 729 and 156.634 C, respectively [ Melt]. [66Bru] observed the melting of Ba at 710 C. Therefore, the thermal analysis data obtained by [66Bru] may be displaced almost 20 C. The liquidus boundaries of Ba2In and BaIn in the assessed diagram are drawn slightly differently from the original diagram of [66Bru]. No homogeneity range has been reported for any phases, including terminal solid solutions. [69Das] predicted that Ba-In liquid would show immiscibility. However, no experimental evidence was found. Although Ba is an alkaline earth metal, as are Ca and Sr, the structure of Ba3In is not isomorphous to that of Ca3In and InSr3 [66Bru]. 65Bru: G.
