Bi-Y (Bismuth-Yttrium) K.A. Gschneidner, Jr. and F.W. Calderwood The assessed Y-Bi phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [69Sch]. The equiatomic compound, YBi, melts congruently at 2020 с 10 C and has the NaCl- type cubic structure. Y5Bi3 forms by a peritectic reaction at 1530 с 5 C. [ 69Sch] found that eutectic reactions occur at 18.5 at.% Bi and 1145 C and at > 99.9 at.% Bi and 269 C. [61Sch] studied the solubility of Y in (Bi) from 315 to 730 C. At the upper limit of this temperature range, the solubility of Y in liquid Bi would be ~0. 48 at.% Y. [69Sch] suggested that the solid solubility of Y in (Bi) is negligible. 61Sch: D.G.
