Cd-Th (Cadmium-Thorium) J. Dutkiewicz The assessed phase diagram for the Cd-Th system is based on the work of [81Bat] and [81Pal], with review of the data of [60Joh]. The melting temperatures of the pure elements have been adjusted to agree with [Melt]. The equilibrium phases are (1) the liquid, L; (2) six intermetallic compounds- Cd11Th, Cd5Th, Cd23Th6, Cd3Th, Cd2Th, and CdTh; and (3) three terminal solid solutions-(bTh), (aTh), and (Cd). The assessed Cd-rich liquidus is based on [ 81Bat]. The stoichiometry of Cd23Th6 was taken from [81Pal] due to isomorphism with Mn23Th6 and the existence of Mg23Th6. The position of the eutectic at 0. 005 at.% Th is based on the liquidus data of [60Joh] and [81Bat]. The solubility of Th in (Cd) should be negligible because the lattice parameters of Cd do not change [81Pal] when alloyed with Th. The solid solubility of Cd in (Th) was not investigated. 60Joh: I.
