Cu-Na

Cu-Na (Copper-Sodium) A.D. Pelton The assessed Na-Cu phase diagram is based on review of the literature, which consists primarily of solubility studies [68Eic, 68Hum, 69Sin, 69Wal]. No compounds form in this system. Above the melting point of Cu, a liquid immiscibility gap most likely exists, with a monotectic temperature close to the melting point of Cu. The melting point of Cu lies above the boiling point of pure Na (883 C). Cu is only slightly soluble in liquid Na. At 225 C its solubility is 5.9 C 10 -6 at.%, whereas at 725 C, it is 9.8 C 10 -3 at.%. The solubility of Na in solid (Cu) has not been measured, but is probably very small due to the large difference in the atomic radii. 68Eic: R.L. Eichelberger and R.L. McKisson, U.S. At. Energy Comm.
