Cu-Te

Cu-Te (Copper-Tellurium) Editor The Cu-Te phase diagram is based primarily on the DTA, DSC, and X-ray investigations of [83Bla]; the miscibility gap in the liquid phase in the Cu- rich region is taken from [74Bur]. The diagram shows some differences from the one proposed by [Hansen], with revisions in the region between 33 and 45 at.% Te. Furthermore, the monotectic temperature in the Cu-rich region is shifted upward by ~40 C. The region between 33 and 45 at.% Te is marked by two phase fields, labeled Cu2-xTe and Cu3-xTe2. In the homogeneity range of Cu2-xTe (~33. 5 to 36.2 at.% Te), several structures or superstructures have been reported. The phase fields of these superstructures are tentatively derived from [83Bla]. The phase relations in the region corresponding to Cu3-xTe2 have not been conclusively identified, and the diagram proposed by [83Bla] is confusing. The phases Cu2-x, (Ch type), Cu3-xTe (C38 type), and CuTe occur in nature as the minerals weissite, rickardite, and vulcanite, respectively. -P.R.S. 53Sch: K. Schubert, K. Anderko, M. Kluge, H.
