Ga-Pb

Ga-Pb (Gallium-Lead) I. Ansara and F. Ajersch The assessed phase diagram for the Ga-Pb system is based on experimental work of [59Pre] and thermodynamic calculation. A regular-solution model was assumed to describe the thermodynamic behavior of the (Pb) solid solution, with the parameter adjusted to the maximum solubility of Ga in that phase. [58Gre] showed that the solid solubility limit of Ga in (Pb) rises from 0.06 at.% (0.02 wt.%) at 110 C to 0.5 at.% (0.17 wt.%) at the monotectic temperature of 311 с 1 C, and that the monotectic composition in the Pb-rich region is 95.8 at.% (98.6 wt.%) Pb. [59Pre] investigated the Ga-Pb system in the liquid state and defined the contour of the miscibility gap. The critical temperature was reported to be 610 C, but the composition was not determined precisely. The monotectic temperature of 313 C is higher than that reported by [58Gre], and the eutectic temperature was reported to be 29 C. If the solubility of Ga is lower than that published by [59Pre] at the monotectic temperature, the calculated phase diagram is in very good agreement with the experimental data. 58Gre: J.N.
