K-Rb

K-Rb (Potassium-Rubidium) C.W. Bale and A.D. Pelton There are two stable condensed phases above 27 C in the K-Rb system at 1 bar total pressure: (1) the liquid, and (2) the bcc solid solution. Both involve continuous ranges of solubility between the pure components. The liquidus and solidus lines of the assessed phase diagram are taken from the thermal analysis data of [71Goa], except for the melting points of the pure metals [ Melt]. This diagram is in good agreement with [Hansen]. Agreement is very good between the assessed calculated diagram and the experimental data. The maximum difference is 0.52 C at the melting point of pure K, because the calculations were based on the melting point of the pure metal [Melt], which differs by 0.52 C from that of [71Goa]. Over most of the phase diagram, agreement is within 0.2 C for both the liquidus and solidus. The measured freezing points of [71Goa] have a minimum at 33.85 C (307.00 K), compared with the calculated value of 34.00 C (307.15 K). 71Goa: J.R. Goates, J.B. Ott, and E. Delawarde, Trans.
