Mg-Sc

Mg-Sc (Magnesium-Scandium) A.A. Nayeb-Hashemi and J.B. Clark A complete phase diagram for the Mg-Sc system has not been determined, but the assessed phase diagram is based on the results of [69Bea] and [72Svi]. [72Svi] indicated that the solubility of Sc in (Mg) consistently decreases with temperature. The solid solubility limits at 300, 400, 500, and 600 C were reported to be 7.4, 9.1, 11.1, and 13.2 at.% Se, respectively. The (Mg) solvus data are from [72Svi], except for the maximum solid solubility (15.0 at. % Sc at 710 с 5 C), which was obtained by extrapolation of the (Mg) solidus of [69Bea]. The maximum solid solubility of Mg in hexagonal (aSc) is estimated to be more than 7 at.% Mg (93 at.% Sc). 69Bea: B.J. Beaudry and A.H. Daane, J. Less-Common Met., 118, 305-308 (1969). 72Svi: Z.A.
