Mg-Sr

Mg-Sr (Magnesium-Strontium) A.A. Nayeb-Hashemi and J.B. Clark In the assessed Mg-Sr diagram, the (Mg) liquidus is taken from the work of [ 39Vos] and [47Ray], and the (Sr) liquidus is taken from the work of [47Ray]. The liquidus for the remainder of the system is taken from the data of [47Kle], [47Ray], and [73Bro]. [47Ray] placed the maximum solid solubility of Sr in Mg at ~0.03 at.% Sr. The maximum solid solubility of Mg in Sr was placed at 4.5 at.% Mg (95.5 at.% Sr), but this is uncertain and must be confirmed. In the present evaluation, experimental thermodynamic data and the assessed phase diagram data were used to derive thermodynamic functions of liquid Mg-Sr alloys. All the characteristic points of the assessed diagram were produced very closely. The calculated liquidus temperatures were within 5 C of the assessed values, except for the (Sr) liquidus temperatures, where the calculated values are in close agreement with those of [73Bro]. 39Vos: H.
