Nd-Yb (Neodymium-Ytterbium) K.A. Gschneidner, Jr. and F.W. Calderwood The assessed phase diagram for the Nd-Yb system is based on the work of [75Sve] , who investigated the properties of cast and annealed Nd-Yb alloys prepared by melting the metals in an electric arc furnace under an argon atmosphere. The interaction between the two metals was represented by a monotectic-type phase diagram. These two elements were found to have limited solubilities in each other in the solid state and also in the liquid state near the melting points. 75Sve: V.N. Svechnikov, G.F. Kobzenko, and E.L.
